Please take a look at this post from Mrs. Waggener and our Exceptional Education department staff related to foster care. If you are willing and able, please consider becoming a foster parent.  You can make a difference in these children’s lives by providing them with a sense of calm and reassurance in the midst of their crisis.

James Madison University’s Summer Honors Institute is a weeklong program (July 10-16, 2016) that provides “qualified high school rising seniors with a great opportunity to get a close glimpse of college life.” Students will have the opportunity to live in a college dorm, sample small honors-type classes, and engage with professors and current students. Participants will hear from representatives from JMU’s Admissions Office who will explain the college admissions process, offer tips, and answer questions that the students might have. Representatives from the Career and Academic Planning Office will also provide advice regarding the selection of a major and career preparation. Honors Program staff members will explain how participation in an honors program can enhance a student’s college experience. Finally, there will be opportunities for students to participate in a variety of fun activities on and off campus.

A more complete description of JMU’s Summer Honors Institute is available on the program’s website.
