GES Deployment Night Changed to Apple-ID Set-up Night on Thursday Evening

From Mrs. McCay:

Dear Parents,

We know both our teachers and our students are excited this year about our upcoming 1:1 deployment. As previously announced, we were planning to have our deployment night take place on Thursday evening, August 28.

Because we must have an Apple ID set up for each student before we proceed with deployment, we will not be handing out iPads on Thursday. We are reserving this time for families who need help creating the Apple IDs for their children. We know that just under 20% of our families have yet to set up an Apple ID.

We will be at the school beginning at 5:30 and until 7:30 PM to help families who have not yet set up their Apple IDs.

If you have already successfully set up the Apple ID and have received a confirmation email from Apple—you do not need to attend on Thursday evening.

This Thursday, parents can come with or without your children to set up Apple IDs with school division staff. You can also use this time to pay the iPad insurance fee if you choose to participate in our program.

We are sorry for having to change our plans at the last minute and hope you understand. We will soon advertise an alternative date for just deploying the iPads and providing parent and student orientation.

To summarize – if you have not yet set up an Apple ID for your child or need assistance, please join us this Thursday. You can come anytime between 5:30 and 7:30 for assistance.

iPads will not be handed out yet at this time. Thank you for your patience and support.

Updates about our program will be posted to our Goochland homepage –
